Snacks & Lunches
Highlands provides two snacks per day.  One in the morning and one in the afternoon for the Extended Learning program.  Snacks will always include either a veggie or fruit and a grain.  During snack time we encourage children to try new foods, practice table manners, build independence and use their fine motor skills to set the table and pour their own drinks.

All students enrolled in the Extended Learning program are required to bring their own lunch.  Please include a water bottle or thermos for drinking.  *If a child arrives without a lunch, Highlands will provide for a $5.00 fee.

If your child has food allergies, please let the director know upon enrollment.  Our staff is trained and aware of precautions and procedures regarding specific allergies and medical treatments if needed.

*Highlands parents are required to pay a $10 snack fee per month.
Happy Birthday To You!
We love celebrating your birthday with your friends at school.  Parents, family members and guardians are welcome to bring a special snack.  We recommend that if you are bringing in a sweet treat that you also provide a fruit or veggie to go along with it.  If you choose to bring in cupcakes, please include a couple without frosting.  Birthday celebrations may include decorations and/or party favors.  The only thing Highlands does not allow, are pinatas. If you would like your child to share a birthday at school, please speak with Ms. Vilma to set the date.

*All birthday celebrations begin promptly at 10:30 am.  Please come 15-20 minutes prior for set up.  If you are unable to come at 10:30 you may leave your party items with us upon drop off in the morning.  We will take care of the rest!

Nap Time
Extended Learning students have nap time from 1:30-3:30 pm daily.  Our peaceful West Classroom is set up with cots and personalized sheets for each child. We ask that all nappers bring in a pillow, blanket and special stuffy to sleep with.  All bedding will be stripped at the end of the week and sent home with parents for laundering and brought back on your child's first day of school the following week.
Miss Monica provides a calm, comfortable atmosphere for down time. The children look forward to resting their bodie
